We’re going on tour!

From February to May we’ll be heading up and down the M6 to get our new music into your ears. The Saint Ishmael tour will take in some of our favourite haunts and also new venues and cities. You can view all the dates on our shows page. We hope to see as many of you as possible out on the road.

Some shows are ticketed, some are free, we’ll be releasing the specifics for each show over the coming days. There will be Facebook Event pages on the DCMI Facebook page.

Our third album ‘Saint Ishmael’ will be released on vinyl and streaming services on Friday 22 February 2019. You can pre-order it from our store and from DROMA’s Bandcamp. The album features the fiery single ‘Blood Is Thicker’.

We've got ourselves a brass band by Jack Tasker

Last weekend we were joined at Stirchley Baths by the City of Birmingham Brass Band to help in the recording of our third album.

The track ‘Until You Can’t Run Anymore’ is probably going to be the album closer and is definitely going to make you cry your eyes out. It’s an epic of Elbow proportions.

We’ll be announcing the release date for the album soon and then a tour to boot.

Big love

DCMIAug2018.jpg

This Saturday (August 11) is something truly special. We are very lucky to be the last band to play whilst the Market Vaults, Stafford (spiritual home of DCMI offshoot Taskrz) whilst it us under the management of the wonderful Oli Kendall. Oli has championed original and interesting live music at the Vaults for years now, so we really want to give him an incredible send off. There are bands on throughout the day, so you could come down to the Vaults and make a day of it:

17.00 - Keshanadram

19.30 - Big Joe Bone

21.20 - Don't Call Me Ishmael

See you down there,

Captains of the storm by Jack Tasker

What an amazing weekend! We played two incredible shows, headlining Friday night in Birmingham and then an opening slot at The Underground on Saturday night. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and came out on some very wet and cold nights.

The running project that Gary and JT have started was meant to have its first chapter completed on Sunday morning, but due to the rubbish weather the Stafford Half Marathon has been pushed back to April. However, we did manage to record some documentary interviews that will form the backbone of the film about running and being in a band.

We are back live on May 1 at The Glebe, Stoke and then Lymelight Festival a few days later. We're starting work on our next batch of songs, with a view to release a single in the next couple of months.

You're going to do what!? by Jack Tasker

DCMI Running Tour.jpg

This weekend is going to be another glorious slice of Ishmael action.

Last call for tickets to our gig on Friday (16 March) at The Victoria, Birmingham. Buy them from our store or ask us to put some behind the door for you. Oh and if you can't make Friday then come to our gig the following day in Stoke at The Underground, you'll be needing tickets for that one as well.

Just one other thing. On Friday we're starting work on a crazy project. Frontman Gary Wilcox and axeman JT will be running a number of half marathons (and some assorted 10ks etc) in 2018 whilst creating an accompanying mini-documentary that looks at the parallels between long distance running and being in an independant pop band. No jokes, there are A LOT.

There are a number of reasons for wanting to do this, but probably the most important is that we wrote a song about running for our last album, so there's definitely some cross over that will create mad dollar for the band. Somehow.

We will tell you more on Friday. See you there.
